Independence Day honors when the United States signed the Declaration of Independence in 1776. In the years that followed, the 4th of July has celebrated the birth of American independence with parades, fireworks and concerts – but most notably an epic backyard barbeque.
Each year, we break out the red, white and blue, and most of us throw a big patriotic summer bash! If you’re looking to host the ultimate 4th of July party, here’s a few ideas your guests are bound to love.
Decorate In Style
Decorating for the 4th of July is easy—all you need is a little red, white and blue! It’s cheap and fast to hang traditional streamers, have all your properly colored tablecloths, plates and napkins and tie up a few balloons. But if you have some time on your hand, making a fabric banner is the perfect DIY craft that you can use for years to come. And if you plan to party late into the night, a set of backyard string lights are a must – and wrapping them in colored bandanas will shade the right type of mood!
A Little Competition
No party is complete without a few backyard games. Everyone loves a good cornhole competition, but don’t forget to include some other party favorites, like a giant lawn game of Jenga, bocce ball or horseshoes.
All About the Food
What would a BBQ be without the food—especially the good old fashioned American kind! Your party should definitely include the essentials: burgers and hotdogs. But offering your guests some original foods from America’s past time will surely surprise them! Serve some fried dough and funnel cake, make some corndogs, whip up a blueberry pie and kids will love Cracker Jacks!
But if you’re looking for some quick food ideas, you could turn Oreos into flags by simply melting chocolate or make some traditional frosted cupcakes with our country’s colors!
Plus, keep all your drinks and food cool with this clever ice trick!
Commemorate the occasion with endless photos— use these printable props, string up a cloth backdrop and have some photo booth fun.
An after spending the afternoon dancing to some party music from the speakers, start the end of your night off by passing out sparkles before heading into the main event and lighting up some fireworks. If you’re not keen on setting off your own fireworks, have your guests celebrate with these confetti poppers instead!
Whatever fun in the sun you plan to have on the 4th this year, from our RPM Mortgage Family to yours— we’re wishing you a festival holiday!
